PTSD Treatment

Are You Struggling To Get Past Your Past?

Do difficult life experiences burden you? Maybe you’ve been through childhood trauma, or you’ve witnessed something terrible. Perhaps an unhealthy romantic or work relationship has impacted you. Or maybe you’ve lost a loved one in a distressing or disturbing way. Have you tried helping yourself and feel discouraged that nothing changes? Perhaps you’ve read self-improvement books or have practiced mindfulness. Maybe you’ve tried traditional talk therapy. But you still feel the pain of the past.

Whether you’ve endured complex trauma or a single traumatic event, these experiences can be harmful. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) could be getting in your way.  PTSD creates pain. PTSD can make you question yourself, “Is something wrong with me?” You might feel broken or defective. You might have difficulty trusting or connecting with people, even yourself. Your relationships might suffer.  It can feel like you have no control over what happens, creating worry and doubt. It might be challenging to recognize the positive things in life. The haunting of the past creeps into the present, even taking over at times.

Do you want support from a PTSD treatment expert, a licensed professional who is trained to help you heal from emotional wounds? Are you ready to participate in research-driven PTSD treatment? Do you want to reach the root of your problems and create long-lasting changes?

Reaction to Trauma is Normal

When something traumatic or disturbing happens, it is normal to feel afraid. This is our bodies’ way of protecting ourselves by helping us to avoid or respond to danger. Some of us may develop long-lasting symptoms or PTSD. PTSD is one of the top reasons for people to seek therapy.

The good news is that trauma symptoms can be tackled with proper, professional PTSD treatment. You can enjoy a happier, more fulfilling life, where you feel more connected with yourself and others. My role as a therapist is to support you through your journey, using proven, evidence-based PTSD treatment.

Therapy Can Heal Invisible Wounds

Trauma can create deep hurt that only you can see. To help you heal, I am trained in one of the most highly researched, powerful PTSD treatments: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR therapy is proven effective and often works faster than traditional talk therapy. This PTSD treatment is validated by many controlled studies, which consistently find that EMDR decreases or eliminates the symptoms of trauma for most clients. EMDR therapy can provide much-needed relief, whether from big traumas like abuse or assault or smaller traumas, such as unhealthy relationships or stressful jobs. A powerhouse PTSD treatment, EMDR tackles complex trauma or single traumas.

Following a successful EMDR therapy session, you will no longer relive the images, sounds, and feelings associated with the event. You will still remember what happened, but it is less upsetting. EMDR seems similar to what occurs naturally during dreaming or REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. You see disturbing material in a new and less distressing way.

Maybe you feel like difficult life experiences have changed you. Maybe your relationships have suffered as a result. Perhaps you find yourself repeating negative patterns, unable to achieve the healthy relationships you desire. In addition to EMDR therapy, I may use Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) to assist with your PTSD treatment. EFIT is effective for helping you work through relationship issues with yourself and others. We will explore current problems, as well as how the past affects your present life. We will uncover patterns keeping you stuck and empower you to make new choices. With EFIT, you learn to trust your experiences and be yourself with others, developing more profound relationship satisfaction and self-acceptance.

I am a certified Emotionally Focused Therapist, demonstrating mastery of Emotionally Focused Therapy. In Arizona, only a small number have achieved this certification. I’ve participated in countless hours of rigorous training and supervision, having my work observed and critiqued. I continue to train regularly to maintain high-quality PTSD treatment skills. My clients describe me as affirming and gentle while effectively getting to the heart of the matter.

I am EMDR trained by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). When choosing an EMDR therapist, it is essential to select someone trained by EMDRIA, the recognized training leader. EMDRIA provides comprehensive and intensive instruction, whereas other organizations often offer abbreviated training.

With over 18 years of clinical experience, I offer proven, powerful PTSD treatment to help you break free from the past. Many people feel that their difficulties are overwhelming. Rest assured that healing can happen. You can feel joy and connection with yourself and others. You just need the proper support in getting there.

But You May Still Have Questions or Concerns…

I Need Help, But PTSD Treatment Seems Expensive?

Therapy is an investment in you. Financially, PTSD treatment and EMDR therapy are a brief investment for a lifetime reward. Life is too short for trauma to get in your way. You deserve to feel better.

What If I Make Problems Worse?

While talking about issues in PTSD treatment may feel scary, not talking about them can cause more significant issues. Problems can fester if unaddressed, eventually infecting your whole life. PTSD treatment provides a safe, supportive environment to address issues and heal from them

Why EMDR Therapy? Can’t I Fix Problems On My Own?

When we experience trauma, we aren’t able to process the events like everyday situations. Trauma gets “stuck” in our brains. We need help with PTSD treatment to process events so that trauma is neutralized or hurts less. An EMDR therapist can help guide you through this journey at a comfortable pace.
