My story begins in the Midwest, where I was born and raised. While growing up, I aspired to help people. For several years, I volunteered at a domestic violence shelter and listened to people’s stories. Here, I discovered my passion for connecting with others and walking alongside them during difficult changes and growth. This discovery initiated my return to school, earning a master’s degree from the University of IL at Chicago in 2005. That same year, I moved to Phoenix to start a new journey.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with over 18 years of experience in the mental health field. For the past several years, I’ve owned and operated a private practice, My Phoenix Therapist. In this role, I help couples create more fulfilling relationships and help individuals heal from traumas or difficult life experiences. I’ve rigorously trained in some of the most empirically validated treatments, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Both therapies reach the root of issues and create long-lasting changes.
I have achieved EFT certification, demonstrating mastery of Emotionally Focused Therapy. This therapy is the gold standard in treating couples and is also effective in helping individuals. In Arizona, only a small number of therapists have achieved EFT certification. Additionally, I continue regularly consulting and training with world-renown experts. Annually, I complete several times more continuing education than the licensure requirement. I love learning and strive for clinical excellence.
Areas of Expertise:
Marital and Premarital
Trauma and Abuse
I received EMDR training from the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). When choosing an EMDR therapist, it is important to select someone trained by EMDRIA, the recognized training leader. EMDRIA provides comprehensive and intensive instruction, whereas other organizations often offer abbreviated training.
Whether working with couples or individuals, I am proud to deliver effective, proven treatments combined with years of clinical experience. Many people feel that their difficulties are overwhelming. Rest assured that healing can happen. You just need the proper support in getting there.
My clients describe me as affirming and gentle while effectively getting to the heart of the matter. I have a sense of humor and am personable--both must-haves for a relatable therapist in my book. I love being a therapist and consider it a privilege to hear my clients’ stories and support them through their journeys. I’m passionate about helping you, help yourself. Whether it’s reconnecting with your partner or getting past your past, I’m here for you.
