You've Held It Together for Everyone Else

  • Do you wake up exhausted before the day has even started — stretched thin between everyone's needs?
  • Are you carrying grief, anxiety, or pain that you've never given yourself permission to fully feel?
  • Do you struggle with perfectionism, people-pleasing, or a relentless inner critic that's never satisfied?
  • Are the patterns from past relationships or your family of origin still quietly running your life?
  • Do you feel pressure to look like you have it all together — even when you're falling apart inside?

Women are socialized from an early age to prioritize the needs of others — to be nurturing, accommodating, and emotionally available, often at the expense of their own wellbeing. The result can be a deep disconnection from yourself: what you want, what you need, and who you are when you're not taking care of everyone else.

Anxiety, burnout, depression, and relationship struggles that women experience are often rooted in this dynamic — in old messages about worth, in relational patterns learned early, and sometimes in painful experiences that were minimized, dismissed, or simply never addressed. Therapy for women means working with someone who understands these layers — not just the surface symptoms.

Therapy for women in Phoenix AZ — rediscovering yourself

Women Are Disproportionately Affected by Anxiety, Depression, and Relational Pain — And Disproportionately Underserved

Women are diagnosed with anxiety disorders at nearly twice the rate of men, and depression at similarly elevated rates. Women are also more likely to have experienced intimate partner violence, childhood adversity, and relational wounds. Yet women are also more likely to minimize their struggles, wait longer before seeking help, and feel guilty for prioritizing their own mental health.

With a therapist who understands the specific experiences and challenges women navigate — including the intersection of gender, identity, self-worth, and relationships — healing is not just possible. It is transformative. You deserve a space that is fully yours, where your experiences are taken seriously and your growth is the only agenda.

Therapy That Finally Puts Your Needs at the Center

I specialize in working with women navigating anxiety, depression, grief, relationship struggles, and major life transitions — from early adulthood through midlife and beyond. My approach draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), which I tailor to the specific ways women's experiences manifest in the body, in relationships, and in sense of self.

In our sessions, we'll create a genuine space for you to stop performing and start being honest about what you're experiencing. We'll explore the roots of the patterns that are running your life — the self-criticism, the people-pleasing, the anxiety, the numbness — and work toward something different at a deep level, not just a behavioral one.

When painful experiences are part of your history — whether rooted in childhood adversity, intimate partner violence, or the cumulative harm of being chronically dismissed — EMDR offers a way to process that history without having to retell it endlessly. Many women describe EMDR as the first treatment that helped them truly let go of what they'd been carrying.

I work with women at all stages of life: new mothers, women navigating divorce or relationship transitions, women in midlife questioning identity and purpose, women processing pain they've been carrying for decades. I also work extensively with the intersection of anxiety, perfectionism, and relational wounds that is so common — and so often unnamed — in the women I see.

Sessions are available in-person in Phoenix, AZ and via telehealth throughout Arizona. I'm a woman, and I've spent 20+ years in this work. I have empathy for what you're carrying and I know what's possible for you.

Questions About Therapy for Women

Absolutely not. Therapy is valuable for anyone navigating emotional pain, relational struggles, anxiety, depression, or a sense of being stuck. Your experience doesn't need to meet a threshold to deserve care.

This fear is so common among women who have spent years holding things together. The truth is that therapy doesn't make you fall apart — it makes you strong in a new way. Real strength includes the ability to feel, to be vulnerable, and to ask for what you need. Many of my clients describe feeling more functional and more resilient as they progress in therapy, not less. The "strong one" role often masks real pain that therapy finally gives a safe place to move through.

That uncertainty is completely normal — and it's one of the most common things women bring into a first session. You don't need to have it figured out before you reach out. Whether you're dealing with something specific or just a general sense that something isn't right, therapy can help you get clearer on what you're experiencing and what you need. A free introductory call is a low-pressure way to explore whether it's a good fit.
